Funny Story

The other day, we were roaming around Paris without purpose. We just wanted to get a feel for the city and take in its sights and sounds.

We stumbled upon this.
Jess: Hey. Wait. [Stops in tracks.] Isn't this a famous river, guys??
Friends: Dunno. Maybe
Jess: Wait, wait. It is! I know it is!

Jess: Take my picture here! This is where Inspector Javert threw himself into the river in Les Misérables!
Friends: We never saw/read that.
Jess: WHAAAT??!
One friend: Actually, I played in the pit during the musical, but I didn't pay attention.
Jess: WHAAAAAAAT?!

Jess: Okay, okay. Can't you just see Audrey Hepburn eating ice cream along the water. Walking with Cary Grant?
Friends: [Insert blank stares.]
Jess: [Shakes head.] Fine, fine, but this is famous!

Yes, friends. It's the Seine River.

A little later...

Jess: Woah. Look at that church! It's gorgeous. And huge! It must be famous.
Friends: I dunno. Maybe.
Jess: Guys! It's Notre-Dame!

Friends: Sure enough!

We also walked past the Lourve without knowing what it was, but only because it covers an incredible amount of land space. More on that later.

  2. Finally saw a doctor (after two previous frustratingly futile attempts)!
    Strep throat.
My wonderful friends here are out fetching the antibiotics for me! Hoping to be on the road to recovery soon.

Snacks and clothes are working out great! So glad I packed the black pants, because I have to have my legs all the way covered for a Mass service!

  5. Ah, roaming around Paris... a lovely purpose in itself! And to stumble upon such heart-stopping sights...

YES!!!!! I CAN see Audrey Hepburn eating an ice cream cone there! sigh. And Notre-Dame... I nearly fainted at the mere thought.

If you think of it, a photo or two of a door or window or ironwork for your Aunt who adores Gothic architecture and painted doors and French ironwork so much that it moves her to tears would cheer her spirits so ... Only if you happen to pass by such things of course :)

Praying your time will be productive, memorable and more wonderful than you could have imagined, Love Aunt C.
