This, coupled with the fact that my headaches have gotten progressively worse over the last month, has led me to a decision: I'm going to monitor everything I eat. This way I'll be prompted (coerced? ;) to make good choices and read labels; additionally, I can see if there's anything that could be triggering my headaches.
I'm really sick of headaches. This particular one has been with me since last Thursday and turned into an actual migraine last Saturday. If you've ever had a migraine, you know that feeling. I was practicing piano, and then it hit me: this is more than that annoying headache. I went straight to bed for a few hours, covers pulled over my head. It helped, but it's never really subsided. It's just back to that annoying headache again.
All this to say, I'm hoping a monitored and thoughtful diet will help. Oh, and I'm trying to drink a lot of water. Running has made that easier.
Haha! I just posted a similar blog about two minutes ago :) I am also monitoring what I eat. I want to be healthier and have less headaches also.
ReplyDeleteI'm so thankful you are my running partner. You make me want to take better care of myself. You're great :)
Oh, and I have decided that as soon as I am finished with my current book, I am going to read Jane Eyre. You made it sound really great :)
My dad and I also have to read the labels on everything we eat. It is kind of annoying, but at least I know I'll live a nice and healthy life without (hopefully) heart problems! :D
ReplyDeleteGlad to hear it Jessie :]..and I'm sure you've talked to Mrs. W about it, but if not I know she went through phases of nasty headaches and she had to figure out what she could and shouldn't eat. Hope the battle is not too agonizing and that you quickly find the triggers to your headaches!
ReplyDeleteTake care!
Jessie and Angela, you KNOW I'll be praying for you guys on this. I am probably one of the few people who can say I KNOW WHAT YOU'RE GOING THROUGH!
ReplyDeleteLet me know if you want the list of foods to avoid again. Especially look for MSG or anything that reads, "Natural Flavors" since that's hidden MSG. Also avoid Maltodextrin.
To be safe, don't eat ANY processed foods! This isn't easy, but it's not impossible!
My life has changed for the better because of this. Once I detoxed from everything, I could have it ONCE in a while with no ill effect. I still can't have cheese or chocolate, though.
Make sure you get enough calories from good foods! Neither one of you can afford the 18lbs I lost through this! :-D
I would LOVE the list of foods to avoid. I can use any advice on how to do this right :)
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should get the list from you again. I don't know what's changed; I thought I'd figured out all my trigger foods, but something's not working anymore.
ReplyDeleteI'm just SO HUNGRY! :)
So sorry to hear you are having problems with headaches and migraines...I so understand! And, will be praying for you and the wisdom to figure out if there is anything you need to purge from your eating habits! Love, Aunt Cathy
