My parents are gone for a long weekend in celebration of their 32nd wedding anniversary, so Julia and I have the house to ourselves. I'm so glad she's here keeping me company, because I don't much care for staying alone at night. She didn't roll out of bed until 11. We had planned to canoe in our lake, but the weather wasn't too cooperative. Instead, we opted for a movie. We saw My Sister's Keeper. Interesting movie. Discussion prompter. I'm still thinking about it.
In other news, I'm doing well trying to eat better. I've had a couple killer headaches, but I know my body is just de-toxing. (I've felt the benefits of this before, so I'm staying strong!) I've been drinking a lot of water and LOVING my fresh fruits and vegetables. Mmmm. Cucumbers, cherries, blueberries, strawberries, broccoli, celery, peaches, kiwi. Mmmm.
Snacks aren't an issue. (Cream cheese on everything!) Neither are breakfasts. This morning's, for example, was utterly de-lish: Kashi Autumn Wheat mixed with Grape Nuts with fresh blueberries and shredded coconut on top in coconut milk. So yummy!
Dinners, on the other hand, do pose some problems. I'm finding almost every meal has either citrus, vinegar, cheese, or nasty preservatives I can't eat. I went through my mom's entire recipe stack the other day and only found ONE winner.
My sister was so sweet tonight, trying to work with these food limitations.
"Oh, I think I'll sauté some onions with our chicken."
"Can't have onions."
"How about this seasoning?"
"Read me the back?"
*Insert some ingredients I cannot consume*
"Nope. Sorry."
She finally just made a "Jessie" pan for me. :)
Thanks, Julia!
As soon as it gets a little cooler, I'm going for an overdue run. Counting down to the 5K!
Awe, I always love hearing about your day. I have been wanting to see My Sister's Keeper, but I don't think Ben will go for it...lol
ReplyDeleteI hope we get to run together this week!
Great job on the food, Jessie! You can do it!
ReplyDeleteYou're staying away from yogurt too, right? It's on the list.
The other day we were talking about mushrooms, and Ty said, "Jessie eats the grossest foods but she won't eat mushrooms."
Of course we all wanted to know which gross foods you were eating! Here's his reply:
cottage cheese, yogurt, and foods with bran.
What a hoot!
Keep it up Jessie..I know you can do it! Actually all those fresh fruits sound awesome!!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, it was a pleasant surprise seeing you at Summit tonight :)
