I've a tough time with Bangkok. The nature of the flight connections is always such that there is at least an eight-hour layover in this city. Because we arrive so late, we can't take our claimed luggage through security and go to our gate until the following morning.
Last year I was alone, so I bungeed my luggage to me while I slept on a bench.
This year Mom and I were together, but my iPod had a run-in with a tile floor during the night. Skype also reused to wok, so a long-awaited call to Ty was put on hold.
Let's just say I was feeling far from cheery. Thankfully, I was able to mooch some free Wifi (hit or miss) and use iMessage to chat with Ty and bug a few friends back home.
Finally morning arrived and Mom and I went through security and ditched our checked luggage. This freed us up to take a nice long walk through the clean, beautiful, quiet part of the airport. My legs needed that.
We found an adorable hallway food court and saw the cutest doughnuts ever! They were so happy that I didn't even care that I couldn't eat them. It was then that I realized there are indeed a few perks to this place. I'm making myself count the little things, because cynicism is a bad habit to which I often default.
Did I mention we meet Julia in four hours?
(The Internet died before I could publish this. Oh, the irony. But in better news, we made it to out hotel. I am thankful for showers!)
