Cross-Cultural Training Part 1

For those of you who don't already know, I'm participating in a half marathon at the end of February.
My first.
At home, I usually run four times each week. I fully believe in rest days (mostly because I get to rest), and I always have a great run following my day off.

Well, traveling has provided many days off. Too many, in fact. While in another country, leaning on another's hospitality, it's unrealistic to think I can keep my normal training schedule. My goal for this twelve-day trip is three runs - two 5Ks and one 15K.

Run number one happened Sunday. We went downtown (about a thirty-minute motor bike ride), and I ran along the Mekong River. It was just beautiful! Unusual for Lao wintertime, it rained. Unfortunately this provided a long, cold, wet motor bike ride home, but it was definitely worth it! Thank you to my family and Sone for enduring the experience just so I could run!

Run number two, here we go!
