Rain, Exploration, and a Little Fun With Cucumbers

Know how I said Wednesdays were going to be Maggie, Emma, & Wesley days? Well, turns out I now get Tuesdays and Thursdays with them and Wednesdays with Gabe & Soph! It doesn't get any better than this!

In normal soccer mom fashion, I drove Mrs. M's van (with Wes and Emma in the back) to pick Maggie up from camp. It was raining so terribly! Emma and I had to walk through a wading pool just to get to Maggie's classroom. After we were all successfully soaked and back in our seats, I declared that we would wait in the parking lot a while until the rain slowed. (I don't even like to drive myself around in the rain, and it made me nervous to drive three precious children around in someone else's vehicle!) What to do while we wait? Tell stories, of course! The kiddos entertained me while I pulled out my lunch, which was complete with some healthy goodies like cucumbers. When they realized they were missing out on the fun of healthy eating, the stories came to a halt and hands were thrust in my direction in hopes of receiving their very own cucumber slices.
Of course I shared. And being creative kids, they found a second use for them!

This has got to be one of my favorite pictures of Maggie-Moo - ever!

When the rain slowed down (it never stopped on Tuesday!), we ventured out once again and found ourselves at the Science Center! I hadn't been in a few years, so I loved getting to see all the new exhibits!

Here the girls are exhibiting the fish tanks. I was more interested in capturing their faces. :)

Wesley and Maggie are just looking down at the turtles and other creatures, but I thought this was a precious picture. I love to see brothers being affectionate to their sisters. Wesley was so amazing, always looking out for Maggie and being sweet to her!
Come on. Tell me a big smile didn't creep across your face when you saw this one! :D
Well, thank you, Maggie. That's a lovely pig snout. :-P
And we met... *drum roll, please!* ...Mr. Potato Head! He was on the news for something, and he even got his photo taken with a pretty reporter.
Of course the Grand Prix was a favorite!
Oh, and Wesley loved this one! It's supposed to blow hurricane-force winds at you. He was moving around so much I couldn't even get my camera to focus!
That's all, folks! Look for future installments of zoo visits, pool parties, and whatever else we may be up to!

**Update: My great friend, Sierra, left for Kenya today (with a group from my church). If you have a moment, take a look at their trip blog and pray for them!

  1. Now all you need is a soccer magnet to complete your soccer mom persona. :)
