Oh, and how many there were!
My 5K on Saturday went way better than expected! I don't know how. I only slept just over six hours, and I had so many things going through my mind this weekend. I don't know, but maybe that's why I did well. Running is definitely a release. Anyway, I finished in 26:29 (minutes:seconds), cutting minutes off my last time! Sierra, Haylee, and my mom were waiting for me at the finish line, but they weren't expecting me for another few minutes, so there's no photo of me crossing the finish line. :) Here's just after, though.
Quick stats:
Out of 1747 participants, I finished 455th.
Of all the women, I ranked 122.
In my age division (women, 19-24), I placed 8th!
I enjoyed this 5K a lot more, because it was less chaotic. I had no idea there there were even that many people! I'm totally planning on running another one in September!
Here are my darling friends who got up early to see me cross the finish line. :) It meant so much having them there! They both knew it was going to be a difficult weekend for me, so they came to my side without a moment's hesitation. Aren't they great? :D
After breakfast (and a shower for me!), we decided to do something crazy. You know that Sky Coaster at Fun World. You know, the slightly ghetto thing that everyone assumes might break at any second? Yeah, that thing. The three of us went on it.
It's 300 feet tall.
Tali came along to be our photographer and videographer.
Side note: check out the shirt Tali and I both bought! Peace, Love, and BFF's. Pretty rad, huh? We had to buy extra large sizes from the little girls' section. Apparently Old Navy doesn't think that girls our age would wear them. Here comes my "inner stickler" as the author of Eats, Shoots, & Leaves would say. Is it true that apostrophes are used to show the plural of abbreviations? Anyone?
This sign was right behind the ticket counter for the Sky Coaster. Is that supposed to be comforting? =/
I was just having a good time, posing and all, and that man got all mad and said, "Alright, Barbie, let's get going." Or, something like that.
Here we are! We rode it three across. Good thing, because I don't think I could have done it alone. The scariest part is when they hook you to a line and then slowly pull you up 300 feet! It was then I began to rethink my decision. I held tightly to my friends (I was in the middle) and said, "The only way down is...down!" Oh, man! I love that feeling. It was so much fun!

After the Sky Coaster adventure, I hit up the movies with Tali, Kelly, and my mom. We went to that snazzy downtown theatre and saw Julie & Julia. I really liked it! I don't want to write a movie review, but I'll just say that I recommend it. Definitely worth a watch.
Tali and Kelly stayed for dinner, and Julia and Carissa joined us as well.
Saturday was just wonderful, being surrounded by so many people who care about me.
I was able to spend some alone time today (even grabbed a nap!), which is so important to/for me.
I'm still waiting for the video footage. I'll get it up as soon as I can.
I love how you look gorgeous even after running a 5K!:)
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful your weekend was good! Here's to many more great ones!
Oh, and I'm glad Julie and Julia was good. I still want to see it.
Crazy Head! You're right, though. That feeling of anticipation just before an amusement ride is the best!
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely curious about the apostrophe before the plural abbreviation. Now I have something to look up!
Ok, I've just got to answer this one. No, apostrophes are not ever used to indicate plurals. Your inner stickler rules!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad I didn't know about your crazy adventure until it was over :)

Oh, no! I'm not going to be able to wear the shirt anymore! Maybe I can bleach the apostrophe??
ReplyDeleteOr make it into a smiley face :)
