A First!

I signed up for my first-ever 5K today! Woohoo! It's July 4th. Let's hope I make it through to celebrate Independence Day. :)

Ever seen that part in Breakfast at Tiffany's where Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard enjoy a whole day of firsts? Signing up for my very first 5k reminded me of that. Completely unrelated to 5ks, Audrey's wardrobe in that movie is so classic. (I want to be cool enough to wear a black dress every day and a hot pink one for special occasions! ;) Oh, and while I'm on the topic of Audrey Hepburn, I'll share part of a cute poem. As the story goes, this was her response when someone asked her for tips on looking lovely:

For attractive lips,

Speak words of kindness.

For lovely eyes,

Seek out the good in people.

For a slim figure,

Share your food with the hungry.

For beautiful hair,

Let a child run his fingers through it once a day.

For poise,

Walk with the knowledge that you never walk alone.

People, even more than things,

Have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed,

And redeemed; never throw out anyone.
